From the 16th to the 25th of November, 16 military air traffic controllers from the Rota Naval Base completed training at FTE’s tower simulator, in which they practiced unusual and emergency situations. Over 8 days of training, different scenarios were recreated such as engine failures, bird strikes and cockpit fires, in order to refresh the controller’s skills and knowledge to deal with these situations in any kind of airfield. This is the first time controllers from the Spanish Armada complete refresher exercises at a civilian ATC academy since the branch was formally established in the early nineties.
